The vet and I are satisfied enough with Ripley’s progress so that she will now take 1/2 tablet of prednisone once a day for 4 days then 1/2 tablet of prednisone once a day every other day until we have no more prednisone. No more motion sickness pill. If she improves on this dosing (doesn’t have a setback) she doesn’t need to go back for another recheck. If she has a setback I call and schedule an appointment or get new directions for pill dosing.
While we were there and I had my back turned to the door The Other Vet barged in and started barking orders at The Nice Vet. That guy is a fucking asshole. I stood in front of Ripley, guarding her from his view. I would not look at him. I was horrified enough that Ripley had to hear his voice, she actually started fidgeting when she heard him.
Note to people who want to be vets: You need to like and have compassion for animals. And it’d be good if you could be mild mannered to their human owners.
Unless Ripley does something really amazing I won’t be posting videos of her daily. We’ll be switching to Tweet Pea progress videos. I will keep you posted on both girls (even if I say “nothing has changed” about Ripley).
Thank you all, so very very much, for all the support you have given. I don’t know how people get through stuff like this without their friends and family. Hugs are in this basket right here, take one at the door. [HUGS]
So glad things are improving!
What’s the matter with Tweet Pea?
Can I have two hugs?
Nothing yet. She gets spayed tomorrow at the shelter. I just don’t wanna, but I don’t want her to go back into heat since it makes her and everyone else so miserable. And you can ALWAYS have 2 hugs.
Way to go Ripley! And a big yea to Mom who is taking such good care of you. I’m taking 5 hugs and leaving 6.
Yay, Ripley! I hope Twitter’s spay goes as smoothly as can be so you don’t have to worry too much.
I am *so* happy to hear about the progress Ripley’s been making. Hopefully, without the seasickness pills, she’ll wake up and be even more active like her old self. Yippee!
Also, did you mention to Nice Vet how you feel about Evil Vet? Is there someone you can call to file a formal complaint about his behavior? The Better Business Bureau, perhaps? I would say -something-, just to let it be known that you had a bad experience related to him. Maybe he’s got home issues and doesn’t realize he’s taking them out on people and animals at work. Maybe he needs a kick in the butt to see that he’s in the wrong line of work. Perhaps he needs a vacation but keeps putting it off for some reason.
I am SO happy that Ripley is doing better! We went through a couple of vets before we found a practice we love. I hope things go perfectly for Twitter tomorrow! I’ll be thinking about you guys. I’m taking one of your hugs and I’m leaving one of mine for you.
I worked for a vet who was fabulous with the animals but terrible with people. It’s why I ultimately quit!
So glad for the update, and not sure how I missed this yesterday.
But next time, give the asshole vet a stare down. I guarantee he’ll back down before you do. Prick.
I’m glad to hear that Ripley is doing better! I think vets are like doctors – some of them just shouldn’t deal with patients at all.
So glad to hear the news!! That’s awesome. I would have looked evil vet in the face and told him to leave that I don’t want him anywhere near me or my pets.
And what Kristen said, anyone to complain to?
