That was my first tweet Friday morning. Then I realized that I am far detached from myself much of the time, so I can honestly justify in my own mind that if the story behind the charity is entertaining and humorous and emotionally stirring then maybe it’s ok to talk about your charity. But that’s gonna stay between me and the corner of W 55 / 7 Av.
Speaking of far detached, am I the only kid who spent a lot of her tween years trying to astral project? And does anyone else remember reading a kid’s mystery book where a girl was astrally projected and someone else took over her body so she was stuck outside her body, but somehow she tricked her way back into her own body? I loved that book, but have no recollection of its title or any more details about it.
I know it’s hard to relate to me sometimes, and I’m guessing this is one of those posts, but you know when I get the weird posts going I eventually come up with a post of gold. hehehehe Post of Gold!
Anyway, here’s a photo for you to contemplate. I call it The Darkness Before the Light:

This whole astral projection thing has me thinking.
Now I want to read that book.
Love the silhouette in the pic.
Yes, I spent a few years (about 4, from 13-17) trying to astral project, float, have OOBE’s, meditate, make things move, etc.
That was back in 1345.
My brother had a book on astral projection. I tried for years to get myself into John Stamos’ bedroom.
OMG, Poppy! Now that is going to make me nuts because I SO know what book you’re talking about, because I read it, too, and also tried to astral project (and failed, miserably) and I cannot for the life of me think what book it was!
I am so googling until I find it.
I love the picture. I love blue and black together.
Happy Easter!

Was it “Stranger with My Face”, by Lois Duncan? It was published in 1982.
Colleen… that sounds so familiar. And 1982 is the right time period. I think that’s the right author, but that the book is Summer of Fear! Wow, awesomeness!
I spent a lot of my childhood trying to astral project and I read that book too! I think it was one of the several books by this certain author that I read. I loved all the books and they all had a supernaturally feeling about them.
Except now I can’t remember the author’s name or the name of any of the books for the life of me! If you ever think of it let me know ok?
I am pretty sure you are talking about Lois Duncan’s book “Stanger With My Face”. I believe she also wrote “I Know What You Did Last Summer”. I read a bunch of her books when I was in middle school and yes, I also tried to see if I could do astral projecting.
I tried to astral project, too.
