  1. Empanada, I enjoy my quirkiness to the fullest extent. :winks: And, yes, it’s very good news. Will make apartment hunting much easier if I’m actually down there hunting too. Oh, and job hunting. :grins:

  2. Doesn’t it feel really good to finally be able to say “I resign?”

    Congrats!

Any irons in the fire in either job or apartment?

  3. WOO WOO WOO!!! I’m so glad – every couple of days now DH says to me, “has Poppy given notice yet?” and I have to say, “no, not yet…”

Tonight I can finally give him good news.

    I’m so happy! :grins:

  4. Mattie, it was way too easy to let the words flow from my mouth. Clearly time. :smiles:

Fogspinner, yes, a very big clock. And thank you!!! :grins:

B, I am soooooo glad to finally be making this change. No matter what the working conditions are, it’s really all about doing what’s best for my personal and professional endeavors. :grins:

    Finn, thank you.

Maman, my last day will be August 1, since that’s the end of a work week.

Stef, yes, very exciting. Leap of faith… but a leap I am very happy to make.

  5. One thing I always loved about leaving a job is how much vacation time I racked up – it was a huge unexpected bonus!

I’ve been at the same job now going on 8 years… so I haven’t felt that feeling in a long time. not since…

DUH DUH DA DUH DAH DUH DUUUH DUH DA DUH.

TK421 Why aren’t you at your post?

  6. Yay! *does a little happy dance* Wait… what did they say? Did they try to convince you to stay? Make any offers? I need more information.

  7. Wah, the business manager tried to convince me to claim a bunch of kids on my W-2/W-4 (whatever) so that I would get to keep more money in the short-term from my vacation payout. I declined. Presents in April are always welcome.

    BB, thank you. :grins:

Abs, as far as I know I am not moving to New Jersey.

Sour, nothing was said. My boss is on vacation until Tuesday of next week. And, believe me, my timing was NOT strategic. My boss told me he was going on vacation until July 22 on July 3 at 2:00pm. I didn’t know at that time when I would be leaving. And, they can waste their breath with counteroffers all they want. Me staying in France is not even on the menu.

  8. Heh. It’s just like you to [innocently] make it look like you planned to resign while your boss was away!

You know what would be nice, if your boss said something like “Oh, we just happen to have an office in NYC that needs a security specialist so why don’t you just put in for a transfer.”

In case you didn’t already know this about me, I like to fantasize. A lot. :grins:
