Because Frankie had a security scare on her blog this morning I fiiiiinally tried again to upgrade my blog from WP 2.5 to WP 2.5.1.
MY CATEGORIES ARE WORKING AGAIN, YAAAAAAAAY! So I’ll eventually get back to all my posts and fix their categories.
Smilies, however, are not working. I’m getting to that. They always break and I always fix them. I’m way more psyched that my categories are working again. I’ve missed them tremendously.

Maman, WP does take a bit of a geeky hand if you’re not using a default theme… Did you see there’s an automatic upgrade plug-in? I am too paranoid to trust that it isn’t going to either destroy my blog or introduce backdoors/vulnerabilities, but less paranoid people will probably enjoy it very much! (Oh, who am I kidding, every time I do anything with any of my files I’m sure they’re crawling with ick.)
I can’t figure out smileys all together. I need smiley help.

So, I’d say that’s a big old vote for NOT using the auto-updater, as I suspected. :winks:
Well it didn’t actually come through with the auto updater. It got placed on my site on 4/14 but how I don’t know. Some security loop hold in WP. if I had not gotten the site updated to the newer wp then the lot of you would of been redirected to some credit card page and downloaded the worm. But seeing WP was nice enough to make WP just shit its self when that happens you are all safe. :grins:
But I am still not going to trust the auto updated. I want to be able to view the files before upload now. :hrmph:
I tried 2.5 and 2.5.1 but the performance for the editor really bit. I actually worked on it a lot, and never got something better than 30+ seconds just to load the write page. Something to do with javascript, and possibly a messed up upgrade.
It seemed very cool, though, so I’ll try 2.5.2 or whatever is next.
