The Chinese restaurant a few blocks down and over is also a Mexican restaurant. It was a Chinese restaurant first, but they decided to add a full Mexican menu. When you walk in you see two entirely separate menus, but you order both menus from one person. … So, that’s what I do. I order Chinese and Mexican. Those don’t sound like they go together, do they? You’d be surprised how awesome two hard shell chili tacos and an order of nachos go with spicy bean curd, fried rice, and scallion pancakes. NUM! Let’s see what we could call this… Guó-Mex? Zhōngguó is Chinese for China. Zhōng means “middle,” guó means “country”. So, country-Mexican. Hmm. That works for me!

A few of our Chinese places are starting to do similar things, only it’s pizza, wings, and tacos. I’m sorry – I just can’t order Chinese and tacos from the same place. LOL!
But we do have a mixed Taco Bell/KFC. It was really odd looking at the double menu and hoping you ordered the proper #10. Convenient though!

That might actually be a good combo, but it kinda makes my stomach turn this early in the morning.

D’oh! You can ORDER chinese food? Damn… I was making fried rice last night. The kids love it and don’t even think of it being me getting rid of leftovers!

You know the Chinese word for China? You rock. Totally.

Chicka, I never thought I could either. But then I took the plunge based on Dawg’s promise that both were really good.
Sybil, and it will probably make your tummy unhappy after you eat it, but the combo is soooooo good going down! I love to eat a chili nacho then take a bite of fried rice, repeat, repeat, repeat.
Maman, sneaky!!!
Finn, I studied Chinese for 3 semesters in college so I know a few words.

Ah yes, another thing I miss about New York. Do they also have chicken fingers and mozzarella sticks? Ours did. They figured that as long as they were frying eggrolls, why not fry up other stuff?

There used to be a place down the street from me that was a combination Daylight Donuts/Philly Cheesesteaks/Korean Barbecue. Sadly, they got rid of the Korean option, so now it’s just donuts and cheesesteaks.

We have huge buffets down here that are similar. They combine Chinese, Mexican, American and Korean.

Too bad we’re moving.

Noelle, I think they do have those things! But… I’m not gonna order those things.
Liz, they took away the best part?!?!?!? My stepdad makes FANTASTIC Korean meat on a stick. As if I needed another reason to love my stepdad…
Hola, it’s your typical Chinese restaurant dive — a few tables, a cooler for soda, a high counter for ordering, a completely visible kitchen, and five or six people in the kitchen area. Except the kids wear shirts with the name of the Chinese side on it then hats with the name of the Mexican side.
Turn, I’ve never had Korean that wasn’t made by my stepdad. I’d love to try it.
Dawg, did you just say “too bad we’re moving”????????????????? HI, THERE’S A BATHROOM WHERE WE’RE GOING! AND A FRIDGE THAT KEEPS THINGS COLD!!!!! AND NO WATER FLOODING THE FLOOR!!!!!!!!!! And Guyanese food.

Marty, no, but I will recommend it the next time I’m there.

There is a place in the town where I work that is a combination coffee shop/pastry shop/Mexican restaurant. It’s weird ordering a chai and smelling burritos in the background.
Also, apparently it has been so long since I’ve commented here that Firefox didn’t save my information. What the heck?? I am totally going to lose my “Top commenters” status.

Stef, I hate chai (and Mexican coffee for that matter) so I’d go straight for the burrito.
