Breaking up (friendships) is hard to do…

Add comments

I almost cried during the season finale of The Paper when Amanda is deleting photos of her and Alex off her camera. And he knows he did something wrong because it hurt him to watch her delete them.

Yes, I love to watch shows about high school. I loved high school. There is nothing wrong with an almost 34-y-o woman watching shows about high school! And don’t let anyone tell you any differently.

My almost 34yo sister still loves “My So-Called Life”, so no…nothing wrong at all.

U gonna watch the new 90210?

  2. Poppy Cede Says:

Bzzt, wasn’t planning on it, but if it’s on the television sitting in front of me I won’t be opposed. It was a semi-regular guilty pleasure in high school and college, but if I missed several weeks I never cried about it.

  3. Miss Britt Says:

I don’t watch that show, but I can tell you from recent experience -

breaking up (with friendships) is still really, really hard to do. Even if you’re not in highschool anymore.

  4. Poppy Cede Says:

Britt, yah, I kinda suck at it. I blame the fact that, when I was a kid, the solution to breaking off friendships was to move away. I moved a lot as a kid… (And by “blame” I mean “use it as a convenient excuse”.)

  5. Avitable Says:

I don’t blame you for liking shows about high school. I like girls from high school.

  6. Maman Says:

I fear highschool… I am having enough trouble with junior high BLECH :loser:

  7. Amanda Says:

I watched the Paper too, don’t worry. you’re not the only one.

  8. Finn Says:

If I watched more TV, I’d watch shows about high school. Because no one has real problems in high school OK, some people do but not on TV. :grins:

Nothing like some 90210 or Saved by the Bell!

  10. Sybil Law Says:

I think everyone likes shows about high school, right?
    Well, I do, too.
But I’ve never heard of that one – thanks!

    Heyyy…

Just a random lurker here that enjoys your blog daily! I just came across this YouTube video that totally made me think of you. If you haven’t already seen it, it will seriously give you a laugh. Have a great day!

I HATED high school. But I too love shows about it. I think they fascinate me because my high school years were so sucky.

  13. Poppy Cede Says:

Avi, oh, who are you kidding. You like anything with legs.

Maman, fear is no way to live life. Vive la vie!

Empanada, did you actually enjoy it? I felt like it was just getting started when it ended. That was very disappointing to me. Plus, I feel like MTV totally just set us up for a show all about Amanda at NYU.

Finn, well, it was a “reality” show and there was plenty of drama. I watched it online, no TV still quite yet. I’m still going through my cleaning phase. (hehehe)

NPW, I know this is totally weird, but I think I’ve only seen about three whole episodes of Saved by the Bell.

Sybil, you can catch up on the whole season if you click the link in the post and then click Full Episodes so you’re not starting with the season finale.

Glenda, hi! Thanks for the link. It’s odd to me that engineers have an opinion on the subject of cats. But, that’s because I have a strange opinion about engineers.

BB, aww. :frown: Well, how about you live vicariously through my high school experience? It was pure awesomeness. I was liked by everyone in every group and class year, I got good grades, I did lots of after/before school activities, I had boyfriends (one at a time, thanks), I had the key to the main console of the BBS, and I was on first name terms with the principal and many of the teachers. I even got to break into the teacher’s lounge for sodas whenever I wanted.

  14. Poppy Cede Says:

    (omg, I’m such a dork.)

  15. BlondeBlogger Says:

Are you serious? Now I’m just jealous, lol! Let’s see…I was harrassed and tortured by mean girls every day. Had lots of boyfriends…who just used me and dumped me. Too worried about trying to fit in to get good grades. Didn’t do any activities. Had stuff written about me on the bathroom walls. Ugh…I’ll stop there!

  16. Poppy Cede Says:

Wow, BB, that is severely shitty.

I have no idea if anything was ever written about me on the bathroom walls. I only ever used one bathroom in the entire school and that one happened to always be graffiti-free.

And the only time I was ever harassed even a little bit by a mean girl was in second grade by Tammy. (Break Boy totally knows who I mean. That girl was VICIOUS.)

  17. Amanda Says:

I definitely felt that it was too short, I was just starting to get into it. I don’t know that I want to watch a just Amanda show, I liked the dynamic of the paper and that loud kid.

  18. Poppy Cede Says:

The loud kid is ironically named Adam. :grins:

    I think he’s awesome.

I wouldn’t be interested in a show just about Amanda, it just felt like they were trying to push us into being interested in a spin-off of her.
