Big girls get lion cuts (and get turned into tiny little girls)

Yesterday morning was like any other morning…

MAMA, quit waking me up!
“MAMA, quit waking me up!”
Ripples, you don't have to turn on the red light, Ripples, you don't have to sell your FURRRR into the night!
“I’m a pretty, pretty princess!”

…and then Dawg special requested (read: insisted) that his baby girl get a lion cut. Who am I to argue? She loves getting that cut.

Awwwwwww, bleep

Ripley is half the size she was yesterday.

The lion sleeps toniiiiight

*giggle* :pinkpuffyheart:

The rest of her before and after photos are here.

Ok so out of curiosity… why do you clip her?

  2. Dragon says:

Love those kitty eyes! How do you keep her still and you scratch free while trimming her?

  3. I am horrified. Horrified I tell you! The indignity of it all!

I can just imagine poor Bella of the 9 lbs of cat, 6 lbs of fur fame getting all naked. Just no. I don’t even like it when Geekman pushed the fur on her head back and gives her Little Bella Head. No Little Bella Heads ever!!!

If we did that to Daisy, Bella’s sister, she’d have a huge mane and no body. She’s a tiny little cat underneath all that fur.

The Evil Grey Rat? I wouldn’t even submit her to such indignity…and she’s probably like it!

    Your poor kitty.

  4. Maman says:

Now she is Tyra FIERCE! :hand:

  5. B.E. Earl says:

Our big guy got the lion cut last summer. Don’t know if we are going to do it this year. His coat is looking magnificent with nary a matted hair clump in sight. We shall see.

  6. Kristen says:

Ripley, you are GORGEOUS and your fur is like velvet. I can tell just by looking.

Poppy, I’m so glad I’m not the only person who blogs about shaving her pussy.

  7. Stacey says:

Fortunately both my girls are short-haired cats because I can’t imagine either of them tolerating a haircut.

  8. Avitable says:

She sleeps under the covers? Heh.

  9. Jan says:

I had to do that to my cat once … I laughed for weeks. It is cute as hell and they really are 1/2 the size!

  10. Greeneyezz says:

Poppy - Your cat is beautiful!!! I love the one of her under the covers.

Is she a Maine Coon?? She’s got the looks of a Maine Coon.

I have one. absolutely Beautiful, but his fur gets everywhere!!

  11. Kris says:

Poor pretty princess. Is she like Samson - having lost all her power now that her hair is gone?

Poor, poor Ripley. (Dawg, yer just mean.) :hrmph:

    :laughs:

  12. Mishka says:

I get Chase cut several times a year just to keep the hairballs down….it is good for her and good for me. She does pretty well during the cutting, it is the bath afterwards that she is not so keen on. I make them keep her face short too so she ends up looking like a kitten when she is done. Maine coon’s just have too much hair otherwise…haha.

  13. NYCWD says:

She is so purrrrrrrttttttyyyyyy now.

And I didn’t wake up with cat hair in my mouth for a change… which is a good thing.

  14. bdogg_mcgee says:

Ripley, you’re such a pretty girl!!

Fogspinner, the first time I got her clipped was because I wasn’t used to having a long-haired kitty and when the seasons change they need to be regularly checked for snarls. This time around she got a lion cut because Dawg asked that she get a matching cut to his haircut. Like father, like daughter?

Dragon, she goes to see her Auntie Joanne at the groomer’s. :smiles: If I even come near her with a comb or brush she growls and swipes at me. If Joanne does it she just lies down and purrs.

Miss Ann, you mean my poor kitty who is sitting on my leg purring because she loves all the time she’s saving not having to groom herself or overheating in this hot basement?

Maman, she is tooootally Tyra FIERCE.

BEE bzzt, good luck with the coat. After Ripley’s first shave a few years back her fur seemed to straighten out. Now she gets the shave to cool off and because it makes her feel beautiful. She prances after she gets it!

K, I do so enjoy talking about my pussy. And her fur really is velvety now. I loooove that.

Stacey, a competent groomer should be able to handle the gnarliest kitty. If not, some kitty sedatives might help the cause. :winks:

Avi, when she feels like it she does. She has several favorite sleeping spots.

Jan, the first time I got her the lion cut I felt soooo guilty and she felt soooo naked but then her fur started growing in and I kept telling her how absolutely gorgeous she looked and then she was proud to have that cut. Ever since she loves getting her lion cuts.

Greeneyezz, she’s a calico domestic short oops, LONG hair according to the humane society, but she acts like a Maine coon so I always say she’s part Maine coon. She doesn’t quite understand how to fetch, but she wants to!

Kris, if anything, Ripley gets more power from having that cut — queen of the jungle!

Mish, I gave Ripley a bath exactly one time. Never again. :winks:

Dawg, she is sooooo soft today. I hope her fur doesn’t grow back too much before you get to hold her again. (And, yay to no fur in your mouth. :winks: )

B, she says “THANK YOU, AUNTIE B. ” (Why do our cats talk in caps?)

  16. How Do You Spell Wookie?…

So I have this really bad habit when I'm on the phone with Poppy. I yawn. Alot. No, it isn't because she's boring. It isn't because she puts me to sleep. I'm just a naturally tired ass person at the end of the day who happens t…
