I respectfully disagree with Rickey of rickey.org about Josiah Leming’s choice during Hollywood Week of American Idol 7.
Frame of reference:
I did not see his decision to excuse the band while he sang his song as a “diva” move. This kid is “homeless,” living in his car. He was trying to get his chance at becoming the next American Idol. He made arrangements for each person in the band but they refused his arrangements. When he tried to sing with the band it went horribly wrong for Stand By Me. So, when he got to the stage to sing in front of the judges after little sleep and having no other choice, it surprised me that he excused the band but then it made sense to me. I saw it as, “if I’m going to fuck this up I’m going to do it all on my own.” And that’s what happened. And hopefully he’ll come back next year with the knowledge under his belt that, until he gets that contract, he has to fit into the cookie cutter.

I am in total agreement with you. My Chicklet and I were so sad to see him cut.
I’m hoping AI doesn’t get another shot at him and he finds a label, the kid can sing!
That one was hard to watch get booted. I liked him and felt the same way when he dismissed the band. Sucks!
Don’t watch the show.
But from what you’ve described, I feel bad for him, too.
I respectfully disagree.
I loved the kid. He was my favorite out of all of them. And I don’t hold it against him that he dismissed the band.
My problem with him was his behavior before that performance. He had completely fallen to pieces. And he had fallen to pieces in rehearsal. And that was more than just lack of sleep. He even said he wasn’t comfortable and was freaking out because he had to perform with a band he didn’t know. Well…that’s what the whole competition is about!
I think the bigger injustice was keeping the bland blond kid over the geek with the glasses. I think that was their biggest mistake.
I don’t watch American Idol and I don’t have an opinion.
oh man, i was actually crushed when he got cut. he’s just SO sweet.
