If you put your name on all the pages of your resume I know you are serious about wanting this job.

    Are you being sarcastic?

  2. Poppy Cede Says:

    No, I am not.

  3. Helen Says:

Call me old fashioned but what happened to the one page resume?
    Peace……………

  4. Poppy Cede Says:

    Hi, Helen!

IT people are verbose. Who knew. And, I was trying to be less verbose but I really meant application plus resume plus cover letter plus references. That’s a lot to put into a Poppable.

  5. The Absurdist Says:

Girl don’t even get me STARTED on resumes. Pulheaze… I am hiring a crapload of people right now.

First, if you can’t use spell check, don’t send me your fucking resume.

If you can’t put page numbers on your resume, don’t send me your fucking resume.

Put your name on every page. Like I have time to find your shit if I drop my papers from my hands.

Please bold the important words so I can find them easily.

PLEASE BULLET LIST YOUR EXPERIENCE AND RESPONSIBILITIES. DO NOT WRITE ME A FUCKING EPIC WITH 800 PARAGRAPHS. DO I LOOK LIKE AN EDITOR?

PLEASE give me a one page overview that precedes your entire working history. Yes, my resume is pushing it at four pages too. So I give you a precis to work with.

And to the above, yeah, because we job hop so much, and us techies have lots of things to write down, one pagers don’t work anymore. Plus, when you have been in the industry for 15+ years, one page doesn’t cut it. Even execs have a professional portfolio put together for distribution.

So now, we do a one page precis/overview, then we put the chronological resume behind it.

Abs, you get it!!!! THANK YOU! And… if you need a techie hiring manager, I live for this shit. Of course, it kinda helps to have someone who understands your business, which we’ve learned I do NOT (wth is that thing you do?) but I love to hire people. (Firing I’ve never done. :grins: )
